I hope fall has found it's way into your homes (we're still waiting for fall here in Arizona..it's still 94 degrees out!).
I wanted to send a quick update regarding The Blue Gecko Candle Company. I've made a very hard decision. And no, I'm not closing ;) BUT, I have decided to pare back on several product lines and spend more time focusing on my true passion...wax tarts. When I opened the store, it was purely because I loved tarts and wanted to share my love for them. I've decided I need to get back to focusing purely on what I love.
What does this mean for you? I've decided to cut out my bath and body line as well as air fresheners, some soaps, and sachets. It also means I will have more time to focus on expanding my current scent list for candles and tarts!
I am also implementing a standing closure policy. I will be closing shop the last two weeks of each month to focus on testing new fragrances as well as catching up on orders that may need to be processed. You will not be able to order during this time. For 2009, I will be closed:
November 16 - November 29 December 12 - December 31 (due to the Christmas holdays, it's a little longer in December)
The last day for guaranteed holiday delivery is December 10th.

Dear Friends and Family,
As you know, I am actively involved in the Indiana Deaf Blind Association as the Vice President and that we are working hard to grow into a strong and resourceful organization.
This summer, the InDBA will be hosting it's first weekend retreat for the Deaf Blind throughout the state of Indiana. One of the challenges of being Deaf Blind is that many become isolated without the means to communicate with those around them.
This retreat will be a weekend of fun, workshops with lots of information, and lessons on how to advocate and empower ourselves for the things we need to be active members of our communities. This weekend will bring Deaf Blind people together to be able to socialize, sharing thier stories and experiences, as well as to learn with the barriers that are normally encountered removed.
With hosting this retreat, InDBA is raising funds to provide transportation, interpreters, bring in key note speakers from organizations such as the American Association for the Deaf Blind, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, InTRAC/Indiana Relay, and several others. We also plan to have some fun activities such as an exotic animal show, which the Deaf Blind will be able to tactilely feel the animals, a dance, and tandem biking on the lovely Monon bike trail. To host this type of event, we are needing to raise several thousand dollars and thus need your support!
We are holding this fundraiser of beautiful Silpada Jewelry, belts, and watches with the gracious help of a good friend of mine, who is donating nearly all of her commission to this cause.
Any purchase that you make, 20% of of the sales will go to InDBA. There is a flat rate shipping price and all items will be shipped directly to the customer from Silpada. Please do not feel pressured to make a purchase, however any purchase made will be sincerely appreciated!

Our blog is up and running (obviously, LOL). Check it often to get a heads up on sales and schedules! We love to announce sales in our newsletters, but know that our customers don’t like to be inundated with emails. The blog is a great way to make small announcements and save you from a full inbox full of emails!
Bath Melts: We are sad to say that we will not be able to ship our cocoa butter bath melts for the next 8 months. Unfortunately, we are located in Arizona where the average temperature from April – November is the upper 90’s – 100’s. If you were to order bath melts, you’d receive a package of melted cocoa butter goo ;) Bath melts are still available for our local customers.

Regarding our 11 oz Tureen candles. Scents are currently limited, but we are in the process of expanding and adding to our current line. We diligently test each and every scent to ensure that you receive a high quality, even burning candle. It is a very long process, BUT, you won’t get candles that waste wax tunneling or the drowning wicks that so many of the big companies seem to mass produce. Each candle is hand poured by us with the utmost of care! We won’t offer a scent (even if it’s offered in tarts and travel candles) unless we’ve fully tested it in our Tureen jars. We do our homework so you can enjoy a high quality candle!

January has started off with a bang! We are in the process of testing about 20 new fragrances! We’ve been on a bakery kick lately and hope to add more bakery inspired fragrances in the near future! Think cookies and cakes! We just added Chocolate Raspberry Moelleux this week. It’s delicious! It’s a French inspired dessert that smells just like a scrumptious chocolate lava cake with mouth watering raspberry liquer filling. Mmmmm….
We’ve also been trying our hand at blending fragrances with some success (Peppermint Noel). If you’ve got a suggestion on blending any of our scents , we’d love to hear it! If we use it, we might even name it after you!
